Saturday, March 21
11am-12pm
Meet scientist, Sierra Miller, learn about her work as a bioinformaticist, and do a hands-on strawberry DNA isolation procedure.
This is a drop off workshop for ages 8-12.
What's a strawberry DNA isolation procedure?
We will start with a few strawberries. Then we will use common household supplies to isolate and extract DNA from the cells of the strawberries. Finally, we will make observation notes about the appearance and texture of the DNA we collect.
Maybe you would like to be a scientist some day, too? You'll have a chance to ask questions and learn from someone who is passionate about STEM outreach to young people.
If this event is at capacity, you may join the waitlist.

30 Minute Sessions running from 11am-1pm
Are you a mini-maker with a big idea but stuck on the how? We’re here to help! Mini Maker Mentor Sessions are 30-minute private sessions with Keystone Kidspace’s Creative-in-Residence Mr. Matthew designed to help young makers get their creations ready for the Mini Makers Market.
Bring your sketches, prototypes, experiments, and works-in-progress! During your session, you’ll get hands-on guidance as you troubleshoot tricky build problems, test ideas, refine your design, and figure out how to actually make your product work. If you’ve tried a few things and hit a roadblock, this is your chance to problem-solve alongside an experienced maker.
These sessions focus on the creation and production side of making: how things are built, improved, and brought to life!
Please note: this experience is not for brainstorming or creating brand-new ideas. All participants must come with an idea ready to workshop (sketches, prototypes, or early versions of the product).
Members get first dibs! Mini Maker Mentor Sessions are open to Keystone Kidspace members now! Any remaining spots will be opened to non-members on Monday, March 16, 2026.
If you are interested in participating in a Mini Maker Mentor Session, please fill out the pre-registration form below. Once your registration is confirmed, our team will be in touch to confirm your time slot. Your session in included with Open Play admission (free for members).
Ready to sell your creations? Register for our Mini Makers Gift Market on Satuday, May 16 from 12-3pm!
